Cowboy Mounted Shooters
"Look Ma, no hands!"Before I can sit and deliver, sometimes I need to run around and report. If you're a reporter anywhere in Alberta or if you are just a visitor there, get ready to experience HORSE POWER! Horses are everywhere and they are spectacular. Here is a look back at some of my favourite events involving horses and the people who love them that I covered for the Vermilion and Area Voice in 2013. |

| Costume Parade Winners! Hawaiian, Breast Cancer Support, and Barbie themed horses and their riders. This trio won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the costume parade at the 4-H Light Horse Club's Horse Camp held in Vermilion in August 2013. |

| Why the long faces? This group did not place 1st, 2nd or 3rd despite their clever Christmas in August theme, but I loved it! |

| Horse Soccer Anyone? At the same Horse Camp, members and their horses indulged in a little horseplay on the field. |

| Gymkhana at the Fair I love the determination on this girl's face as she rounds the barrel with her horse who looks like he's thinking, "Don't worry, we have this." Turns out the horse was wrong, but it's still one of my favourite pictures from the Vermilion Ag Fair. |

This trooper rode her pony in the Vermilion Fair's parade which was a huge feat since the parade, with 124 entries, lasted for well over an hour. Parade Chairman, Russ Cameron said for the past 103 years of the Fair, there has never been pre-registration for the parade and jokingly remarked one year perhaps no one will show up. I'd be more worried about the year where EVERYONE shows up. |
